Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11: 28 (NLT)

In 2001 Chris Tomlin introduced the song “We Fall Down.” A beautiful, uplifting song which I encourage you to sing along with me. Here we go—

“We fall down, we lay our crowns,
At the feet of Jesus.
The greatness of, mercy and love,
At the feet of Jesus.
And we cry holy, holy, holy
We cry holy, holy, holy,
We cry holy, holy, holy
Is the Lamb.”

But here’s the challenge as we go to bed each night.

As we toss and turn in our sleep at times.

And then as we wake up each morning restless and uncertain.

Trying to figure out what to do with all that we will be carrying and dealing with that day.

Embracing the privileges and responsibilities to care for the lives God has entrusted to each of us, all for their good and His glory.

Yet all too many times our response is in the form of what we can do, in our power, and with our wisdom and effort.

Resulting in increasing tension and anxiety as resolutions evade us.

We’ve all been there.

And all the while Jesus is reaching out to us with the call and assurance to—

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

So, moving ahead, maybe embracing the words of that song is the pathway to take, simply laying whatever is before us, and whatever we are carrying at the feet of Jesus—

“We fall down, we lay our crowns,
At the feet of Jesus.
The greatness of, mercy and love,
At the feet of Jesus.”

It’s a better place to be. At His feet, in His power, comforted by His love and peace, and guided by His wisdom.

Actually, it’s the best place to be.
