Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”  Corrie Ten Boom

There it is.  A mission statement for all our todays—in just twelve words.

Twelve words to embrace as the morning sunshine begins to illuminate all the unknowns which will rapidly unfold in the day before us.

Twelve words out of the mouth of a woman who saw her Father die after the Nazis arrested their family for harboring and helping Dutch Jews to escape and to freedom.

Twelve words out of the mouth of a woman who watched as her sister Betsie ran out of breath in the horrible confines of Ravensbruk concentration camp just months before those imprisoned there were liberated by allied forces in the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.

Twelve words to offer us hope in the face of the loss of a loved one, the reoccurrence of an illness we thought was long-since cured, a relationship which has finally died, the loss of a job, or a child who has lost their way—and as we look back we realize it could have been prevented—by us.

Twelve words to embrace in the face of a Country with a woeful absence of moral and spiritual leadership at every level throughout our Nation.  Twelve words to cling to as too many press on toward the threshold of a slippery-slope and culture where we see again the reflection of faces, times and places where life—in and of itself alone—was not held as sacred and precious.  A  culture where the echoes of voices past which determined the number of breaths left in one’s life to be in direct proportion to the perceived productivity remaining, seem eerily more than just a memory away.

And so much more.

Twelve words, timely sent, which point toward the spiritual and moral rudder still available to guide the decisions of our individual, corporate, religious, institutional and National lives in the face of a sprint toward a moral and spiritual desert…to pass on to the next generation and the next.

Twelve words.

It’s time to claim or reclaim them for today and tomorrow.

Twelve words.

It’s time to embrace them for the courage to be bold for what is right, and of eternal and Godly consequence…both now and in the future.

Twelve words which should serve to remind us that the object of our trust is not money, things, power, awards or recognition.  Twelve words which should serve to remind us that the object of our trust is not government, or its leaders and that one day, or in a few years, it will be better.  It may be—or it may not be.

Twelve words that remind us that the only Object worthy of our trust and focus each day as the sun lights up the world around us is the God who created us and all that is around us everywhere—and His Son—Jesus Christ.

As the life on earth faded from her in that horrific place, Corrie Ten Boom’s sister Betsie left her—and us—with this admonition:

“We must tell them [the world] what we have learned here.  We must tell them that there is no pit so deep that He is not deeper still.  They will listen to us, Corrie, because we have been here.”

Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

Twelve words for today, the unknown of all our tomorrows, and all the way into eternity.
