Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and loaded down with burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11: 28 (ISV)“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40: 28-31 (NLT)“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?…
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8: 35, 37-39 (NIV)
He didn’t see another way out. And so, there he was, standing on the side of the bridge in Bedford Falls, with the river rushing by below.
Hoping to see a different way than his life insurance proceeds to solve the financial issue at the building and loan business. Anything else. Wishing for something that could help. He didn’t know what, but something.
Crying out deep inside for help.
Then God sent an Angel—Clarence.
And Clarence began to show George Bailey, despite this difficult moment in his life which George couldn’t see beyond, what the world would have been like without him.
That his life, and our life, is not defined by one moment, or another.
We are God’s precious children.
Created in the image of God, for a purpose. Created to walk with Him, to lean on Him, to trust Him in those moments where we don’t know where to turn.
And when we don’t know the steps ahead, when we are weary of life and all it endlessly piles upon us, when we are embarrassed, lost, helpless, with seemingly no way out.
God is there.
The movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life” reminded us that in those moments in life that we can’t see beyond—God sends Angels for us.
But God sent even more.
God sent His Son—Jesus, for you and for me.
Always there with us in the good times, as well as the hard times.
Joyous times, and also those times when feeling persecuted, in danger, not knowing where to turn, embarrassed, under attack, desperate, despairing, with no hope in sight. We’ve all been there, at points of desperation, depression, hopelessness.
And God sent His Son for you and for me, for all those moments.
To cry out to Jesus.
Remembering that He came, not to condemn the world, but to save the world—you and me, and everyone. (John 3: 16-17)
Third Day said it well in their song “Cry Out to Jesus” as they shared in part—
“…There is hope for the helpless, rest for the weary,
And love for the broken heart.
And there is grace and forgiveness, mercy and healing.
He’ll meet you wherever you are.
Cry out to Jesus. Cry out to Jesus…”
Where are you today? Maybe having trouble seeing the way ahead?
God sends Angels to guide, protect, and encourage us.
And God sent His Son, Jesus, for you and for me, for always and everything.
Cry out to Jesus. He’s there, and He’s got you.
In His Name–Scott
