Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
John 3: 16-17 (NKJV)“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Romans 10: 9-10 (NIV)“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Ephesians 2: 8-9 (NIV)
It’s pretty amazing, don’t you think?
When you really stop to think about it—it’s hard to comprehend. Hard to wrap your brain around.
You could not do it, if it were your son or daughter.
To knowingly and intentionally sacrifice them for anyone and everyone.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3: 16)
I wonder what we’re waiting for. Wandering through day-after-day with a sense that we will always be here. Right?
Forgetting that our life, and our time here on this earth is short, and will eventually end. Then what? Then where?
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 8: 9-10)
“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3: 17)
So, what time have you been promised here on earth? Are you sure?
Five years or more. One year. One month. One day. One hour. One minute.
Then what? The beginning of eternity, somewhere.
God’s gift of salvation through His Son assures us eternity in Heaven with Him.
God’s gift. And our choice.
In Brooks and Dunn’s powerful reminder that we can choose to live for eternity with God, “Believe,” they share these words—
“Old man Wrigley lived in that white house.
Down the street where I grew up…
I spent a few long summers out on his old porch swing.
Said he was in the war, when in the Navy
Lost his wife, lost his baby.
Broke down and asked him one time,
How ya keep from goin’ crazy.
He said, “I’ll see my wife and son in just a little while.”
I asked him what he meant.
He looked at me and smiled, and said
I raise my hands, bow my head,
I’m findin’ more and more truth in the words written in red.
They tell me that there’s more to life, than just what I can see.
Oh I believe…”
Do you have a sense that you will always be here on earth? That you have time for whatever? Maybe that’s something to rethink.
Why not shore up a spot in eternity with God—now.
He has given us that choice. If you have made it to be with Him for eternity, good. If not yet, why not make that choice now.

God’s gift—eternal life.
Our choice.
Believe.
