Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.’”
Matthew 22: 37-40 (NLT)

“The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
I Samuel 16: 7 (NLT)

“Look here, you people who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we are going to such and such a town, stay there a year, and open up a profitable business.’ How do you know what is going to happen tomorrow? For the length of your lives is as uncertain as the morning fog—now you see it; soon it is gone.”
James 4: 13-14 (TLB)

“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?”
Matthew 16: 26 (NLT)

The video below is a short, heart-lifting, life-changing reminder of the potential, purpose, impact, and legacy we can leave with the lives God has created us to live in the brief time we have here on earth.

Bruce Pearl, at the time the story captured by the video presents, was the head coach of the Auburn University men’s basketball team, where he left an incredibly successful impact on the basketball court.

But not only there. To Coach Pearl the potential for his impact for good extended well beyond his role as a coach on the basketball court.

His potential impact also touched the lives which came before him from wherever and whenever, which the platform of his position as Auburn’s basketball coach provided him.

Opportunities which continue today, in other platforms and roles God has entrusted to him in his one-time around. Opportunities to have an impact for good, and even at times, as the video records in that past role as Auburn’s basketball coach, to have and leave a life-saving impact and legacy.

One time around. With God, for others.

One time around, to leave a legacy which will take value from the lives of others around us, to make lots of money, accumulate lots of things, leave a legacy of stuff, worldly image, and material success.

Or, one time around becoming all who God created us to be, and with our talents, resources, time, and opportunities, to love, support, and nurture our families, and those others who come into our lives and a need a lift up in life, helping them to reach their full potential and become all who God created them to be.

All leaving a legacy of changed lives for here and eternity, with our names written on the hearts of those who are less when we are gone, but more, so much more—because we were here and we cared.

What will our impact be? What will our legacy be?

It is not something we should begin to think about in our last days.  It is something we leave every day.

What will people say about you when you are gone?

What will you do every day? What will I do?

And every day, as we look back on the day, we need to reflect on this question to ourselves— “Could I have done more?”

It is a question that should be on our minds and hearts—every day of our lives.

Could we have done more?

One time around. With God, for others.

Every day of our life here—for everyone God brings before us.

One time around.
