Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
“Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. Then they took Jesus and led Him away.
And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center…After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, ‘I thirst!’ Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’
And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”
John 19: 16-18; 28-30 (NKJV)“…but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, ‘Why do you seek the living among the dead?
He is not here, but has risen.’”
Luke 24: 3-6a (ESV)“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29: 11 (NIV)“How great the chasm that lay between us,
How high the mountain I could not climb.
In desperation, I turned to heaven, and spoke Your name into the night”
Living Hope (Phil Wickham, Brian Johnson)
We have all had those moments. Uncertain. Anxious. Feeling unworthy. Hopeless.
Too many mountains before us blocking a view of the sunshine, often only a faint memory.
Watching a loved one struggle more and more each day, after a long life of impact.
Facing yet another moment of “what to do,” while trying to find the “want to” to continue the way ahead again at all.
Feeling unloved, unappreciated, used, less, and empty.
Hope seems beyond our grasp in too many of our mornings, days, and nights as the light fades into the gathering darkness.
“Then came the morning that sealed the promise.
Your buried body began to breathe.
Out of the silence, the roaring lion, declared the grave has no claim on me.”
Jesus Christ, my living hope.”
Living Hope (Phil Wickham, Brian Johnson)
For you, and for me—Jesus Christ went from hanging dead on the Cross, to then being buried in a borrowed tomb, only to rise to breathe again as He had promised.
Alive, then, today, tomorrow, and forever, for you and for me.
To walk with us through all those moments we all have of feeling uncertain, anxious, unworthy, and hopeless.
Lighting our path and moving us toward all He created us to be, and what we are to be, and to do, while providing the hope and desire to want to, and be able to, move on with Him into all He has set before us.
Forever here, to lift us when we need a lift. To point us when we need to know the way.
And to provide us with all the Hope through Him, trusting Him, for every step toward the fulfillment of the life He created us to live.
Getting to the end of our journey here one day, with Him, having had the impact, and fulfilled the legacy for good He created and planned for us to have and to leave.
“Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free.
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me.
You have broken every chain; there’s salvation in Your name.
Jesus Christ, my living hope.”
Living Hope (Phil Wickham, Brian Johnson)
Always here—now and forever. Always our Living Hope.
