Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone…
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9: 2, 6 (ESV)“Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.’”
Luke 2: 10-12 (NKJV)
Too often in our lives, or in the lives of loved ones, there are too many dark clouds.
Too many moments not knowing which way to turn. Wondering when anything will change for the better.
Causing us to throw our heart and hands in the air, wondering what’s the use, or why bother.
But whatever it is trying to take hold of your heart, whatever it is trying to direct your steps—there is a reminder on the way of Hope.
A Hope which is already here. A Hope which stands ready today to invade our lives and world, if we will let that Hope in.
But too many moments try to invade our lives these days, reminiscent of those dark days during which God was silent. Days where He didn’t speak, or send prophets, kings, or judges. No leaders like Moses or Joshua, or other messengers were around. Malachi was the last messenger the people had heard from.
For over four-hundred years. Silence.
Yet back then there was still an echo stirring in their minds and hearts from Isaiah years earlier—an echo foretelling an expectancy of Hope.
And then it happened as Isaiah prophesied—Bethlehem morning. A star beamed bright in the sky, breaking through the long darkness of their mornings.
The Light of Hope entered the world in the birth of the Baby Jesus.
Ever since, the world then, and our world today, was forever changed.
It was the birthday of a King. The birth of the Baby Jesus.
The King of Kings.
Over a century ago, William Harold Neidlinger wrote “The Birthday of A King,” reminding us through his words of the Hope which forever entered our lives and world with the birth of Christ. Sharing some words such as these—
“In the little village of Bethlehem,
There lay a Child one day.
And the sky was bright with a holy light,
O’er the place where Jesus lay.
Alleluia! O how the angels sang.
Alleluia! How it rang!
And the sky was bright with a holy light,
‘Twas the birthday of a King…”
Too many dark clouds in our lives, or the lives of our loved ones?
But wait my friends—a Light has come.
The Light of Hope, which forever broke through the darkness of our lives and world over two thousand years ago, and has been with us ever since, and always will be.
Jesus Christ was born.
The Holy Light of Bethlehem Morning.
For you. For me. Forever.
