Remember God
Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40: 28-31 (NIV)
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us…”
A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens
Dickens may have captured it about right for then, and maybe got it right for these times we seem to be living in today.
Times reflecting uncertainty. Restlessness. Sleeplessness.
Times of anxiety and darkness, creating despair and hopelessness.
Looking back upon Dickens’s reflections of those times, and to the times we are in now, you wonder if the times are ever changing.
At times today, experiencing some of the worst of times, yet still holding out hope for the best of times.
Like the days in which the prophet Isaiah lived.
Times of difficulty, darkness and dissension. Times of a moral and spiritual decay causing a turning from God.
Yet Isaiah continually called the people back to God.
Reminding them of His presence, love, caring and purpose for their lives.
Reminding them time and again, that no matter what—remember God.
No matter what—God.
Deserved or not—God.
Calling them each to remember that they were a product of the perfect hand of the Creator—God.
Each as God’s project for good, despite the difficulty, darkness and temptations around them.
Each called to hope in the Lord, to renew their strength, to look within, to soar with Him to become all He created them to be.
To rise up with Him on wings of eagles. To run with Him and not falter or faint.
Whether looking back on yesterday’s times.
Living in today’s times.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s times.
No matter when and what we may face—Remember God.
He is always there.
In His Name–Scott
