All is Well
Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
“He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’ He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.’”
Revelation 21: 5-6 (NIV)“For this is what the Lord says –he who created the heavens, he is God…
I am the Lord, and there is no other.”
Isaiah 45: 18 (NIV)
It needed to be done. And so I vacuumed and mopped the kitchen and bathroom floors the other day.
Everything else was pretty clean, organized and in its place.
You want to see a mess. Something that really needs to be cleaned up. Look around the country and world.
People everywhere scrambling to find a bit of hope. A bright light in the darkness.
Many trying themselves, doing their best, to fix what’s wrong.
Looking to leaders to work together to make a difference for good for those they were elected or appointed to serve. To unify, rather than divide us around issues we face. Without much success, according to the day-long media reports.
Here’s a suggestion—punch a hole in the clouds seemingly circling our days. When we do, we will catch a glimpse of the sunshine which is always there above them, and the God who created it all.
That’s what the Apostle John was writing about years ago in the passage from the book of Revelation, and which is true today. God is the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End.
And no matter what is going on, He is actively at work making everything new in our lives and in the world. He is there and in control.
Isaiah shares a similar message of hope way back then, when God has the prophet remind us that “I am the Lord, and there is no other.”
A few years ago, Michael W. Smith wrote a Christmas song, which like all Christmas songs is for all-year-listening. Here is some of what he wrote—
“All is well. All is well. Angels and men rejoice. For tonight darkness fell. Into the dawn of love’s light. All is well. Let there be peace on earth.
Christ is come. Go and tell. That He is in the manger. Born is now Emmanuel (Christ with us). Born is our Lord and Savior. All is well!”
That’s what Isaiah and the Apostle John were saying. Despite the way things look—All is well!
No matter what is going on in the world around us, or within our lives as we try to do our best day-by-day, He is still Lord, and there is no other.
No matter the storms we go through—He is Lord before them, in them, and after them. We may not understand why things happen, or will they always make sense.
We may not see God’s hand on something until much later, or not until we look back from eternity. But He is there, at work for you and for me.
So, in the midst of all we face and that’s out there, let’s do our best to help. And let’s hope others will join in the effort.
But in every moment of every day, let’s always look to the One who can handle it all, and will.
Let’s look to the source of all hope for now and eternity—remembering that He’s got it all.
God is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.
He is the Lord and there is no other.
All is well, my friends.
Smile. All is well.
In His Name–Scott
