One True Light

One True Light

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“In Him was life, and that life was the Light of all mankind. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 1: 4-5 (NIV)

It’s been a long couple of years, at least it seems like that, during these past few months of 2020.

This year has had more than its share of dark and disappointing moments.

One comment I heard from someone the other day when news of something else happening hit the airwaves—

“Well what else would you expect in 2020?”

Yet the Apostle John reminds us what we should expect, that—

The Light shines in the darkness.

Surely just as the number of new cases from the Coronavirus pandemic begins to stabilize, and then decline, it then begins to rise again. Then we received news that the count increased by two—as word that President Trump and First Lady Melania—tested positive for the virus.

The unfortunate response of some people to the news of our President and his bride being infected by Covid 19—that he deserved it, and other responses even worse are not worthy of remembering or repeating.

However, the vast number of responses by good people throughout our nation and around the world were expressions of care, concern and prayer.

The Light shines in the darkness.

Even with continuing protests, rioting, looting and destruction in some of our cities around the nation—

The Light shines in the darkness.

Add to that the vitriol of this season of political elections and increased racial tensions fanned by elected officials seeking any advantage to regain their seat, rather than calming the waters and winds being whipped up by the storms.

And even though the economy has improved dramatically since the setbacks in March from the onset of the Coronavirus, there are folks still struggling and reaching for a better place in some sectors.

But, my friends, the Light shines in the darkness.

Maybe it will be a year many of us won’t look back on too fondly.

But through it all—the Light has always shined in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Throughout the centuries, tyrant after tyrant, tragedies, diseases, hardships and inexplicable moments of darkness have occurred, but the Light continued to shine in the darkness.

And no matter the darkness which has occurred before, and so far in 2020, or which may occur thorough the balance of 2020, and beyond—the Light will continue to shine in the darkness.

And all the darkness throughout the centuries, and in the centuries to come—will never be able to overcome that one true Light—

The Light of Jesus Christ in the world.

Amen & Amen!

In His Name–Scott
