Broken, But Not Lost – Calvary!
Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”
Matthew 16: 24-26 (NLT)
“Do you think the world is broken?”
It was a sincere and probing question from a good friend after listening to the song— “Calvary’s Enough,” by Brooke Ligertwood.
Here are some of the verses of that thought-provoking song—
“I resolve to know nothing, but You crucified…
The weight of the world, too much for the souls of men.
But somehow You hold it all upon the cross…
You resolved to die, scarlet flowing from Your hands and side…
As the darkness fell and the temple curtain tore,
The death I deserved, You made Yours upon the cross.
Calvary’s enough, Calvary’s enough.
God, I know nothing, but I know this much,
Your blood has spoken, it shouts from the cross.
The world is broken, but all is not lost,
Because of Jesus and all You have done.
Oh, Calvary, it’s more than enough.”
So, do you think the world is broken?
Here are some things to consider—
When we see one child or one adult trafficked—wouldn’t the answer be yes? The truth is there are tens of millions trafficked in this nation and around the world.
If one child is abused in any way, or goes to bed hungry—the answer would be yes, right? There are millions who carry those scars.
When 26,000 children die every day around the world of starvation and preventable diseases—the answer has to be yes.
When we see hundreds of thousands of people, homeless and lining the sidewalks and streets in cities around this nation, or the mentally ill left without the help they need—the answer must be yes.
And then consider wars, would-be leaders concerned only with maintaining their position and power. It seems clear that the answer is—Yes, the world is broken.
But broken things are always before us—and they are there to be fixed.
And God calls us, as His followers, to fix them with Him.
To have an impact for good in the world around us.
To lift lives in the world around us to the sunshine of all they were created to be.
With the Risen Christ of Calvary—to fix a broken world.
Now and always.
As the song, “Calvary’s Enough” concludes—
“The world is broken, but all is not lost,
Because of Jesus and all You have done.
Oh, Calvary, it’s more than enough.”
Together, with the Risen Christ of Calvary—you and I are called to fix a broken world. To make the broken pieces and people before us—whole.
Every moment. Everyday. Everywhere.
With our last breath.

A Few Truths
I would like to think that if we had a chance, we could all deal with the issues before us well, or at least better than is occurring.
Politicians, violence, good and bad intentions, and destruction won’t solve what is before us.
I wonder what might happen if we chose God to take the lead and followed Him with our heart and minds fully surrendered to, and trusting Him to move us forward.
Father’s Day Reminder – Hope Remains
Rough estimates are that forty-percent of our children go to bed without a father in the home… someone who was always painting a picture for them each day of the incredible gift of their life, until they themselves could take up the brushes, paints and palettes of their lives and begin to paint the landscape of the life God created them to live.
Darkness to Light
We have been through it the last few months. A journey unlike any we’ve ever experienced.
Times of darkness, death, uncertainty, confusion, isolation, frustration and anger.
Looking for direction. Looking for cures. Looking for some voices of calm and stability. Seeking the best of who we can be in these times.
