Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“For this is what the Lord says—He who created the heavens, He is God; He who fashioned and made the earth, He founded it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited—He says:     I am the Lord, and there is no other.”

Isaiah 45: 18 (NIV)

It’s happening again this morning as I sit here with you.  I am once again being reminded of the truth of that scripture.  It seems to happen in the rising fullness of each new day.

Because no matter the clouds which cover the day, or the storms which gather and threaten, or which ultimately come;  no matter the darkness of the world around me, each new morning always seems to come with a fresh reminder of the promise, which in our better moments we know to be true, that—

All is well.  All is well.

Really, though, you’d have to wonder.  Confronted with today’s news accounts describing…

·         Elected officials who abandon models of leadership and statesmanship as they ignore ways to realistically deal with the issues of our country which at times seems headed for the abyss…

·         Fighting in Afghanistan deepening as government leaders in that country are executed by suicide bombers…

·         Storms, violent weather and natural disasters which continue to wreak havoc across the length and breadth of our nation and around the world…

·         Border security remains an elusive phrase as political will to do what is best morphs in the face of polls and voter popularity…

·         Rising gas prices, gyrating stock markets, and God being ripped from our schools and the traditions of this great land…

·         The trial of the decade ends in Orlando with as many questions, notoriety and despair as when it began…

All is well, all is well.

“I am the Lord, and there is no other.”  All is well.

Yet how can that be?  To even say that—all is well—seems incredulous and naive when in your lives the burdens of the day are too heavy for you to carry, and the future seems to hold only uncertainty, despair and failure; for I know that some of you—

·         Are sitting there having just lost a job, with no new prospects in sight…

·         Watch as the vibrancy of a beloved family member dissipates before your very eyes with the onset of Alzheimer’s…

·         Stand at the side of a child struggling to find their way in life in a world that is unforgiving and harsh and seeks to strip them of their innocence and values…..

·         Try your best to step out into each new day—but remain full of uncertainty—as you try to figure out what God intends for this next season of your life…

All is well, my friends, all is well.

Read those words again; this time with a firmness and conviction which claims the promise of His presence through all the stuff of life.

All is well.  All is well.

“For this is what the Lord says—He who created the heavens, He is God; He who fashioned and made the earth, He founded it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited—He says:

I am the Lord, and there is no other.”

Here it is.  Here’s the reminder for each of us which comes with the rising of a brand new day:  No matter what is going on in the world around us, or within our lives as we try our best to live day-by-day, He is still Lord—and there is no other.

No matter what storms we are going through, this we know to be true—the storms will end—and He is Lord in them and after them.  And as we face and endure whatever storms come our way, He will always be with us through them and with us after them.

He who created you and me, the heavens and the earth, proclaims today as He did then…

“I am the Lord, and there is no other.”

All is well.

All is well my dear family.  All is well dear friends.  All is well today, tomorrow and for all eternity—He is in control.  He is Lord and there is no other.

Trust Him.  In the midst of the storms, and when they end—trust Him.

All is well.

                                                                        In His Name—Scott
