Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust’….
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”
Psalm 91: 1-2, 11-12 (NIV)

“Jesus called them to Him and said, ‘…Important leaders use their power over the people. It must not be that way with you. But whoever wants to be great among you, let him care for you. Whoever wants to be first among you, let him be your servant.’”
Matthew 20: 25-27 (NLV)

The Country Western group Alabama years ago released the song “Angels Among Us” containing these eternal truths—

“Oh, I believe there are angels among us,
Sent down to us from somewhere up above.
They come to you and me in our darkest hours,
To show us how to live, to teach us how to give.
To guide us with the light of love.
But ain’t it kind of funny at the dark end of the road,
That someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope.
They wear so many faces, show up in the strangest places.
To grace us with their mercy in our time of need.
Oh, I believe there are angels among us,
Sent down to us from somewhere up above.
To guide us with the light of love.”

We want to believe it’s true. We need to believe it’s true.

God sending Angels to us, to walk among us.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, believed it was the Angel Gabriel God sent, standing before her, telling her what at first blush seemed unbelievable—that she had been selected to be the Mother of the Son of God.

Guess what happened.

Daniel believed it, watching the Angels God had sent, shut the mouths of the lions in the lion’s den to save his life.

You remember—all was well as Daniel walked unhurt out of the den.

I believe it, as I pray for Angels on the wingtips of airplanes, and wherever and however else my family and friends travel.

Angels of God. There with them.

And found time and time again in God’s Word, and throughout God’s world.

Angels sent for you and me, and all of us, to care for us and protect us.

To assure and comfort us in times of uncertainty, to correct us, to guide us with decisions we face, and to lift and encourage us when all hope seems gone.

And Angels which also serve as an example for you and for me to be available for God to send as an Angel for someone in need He will place before us.

To serve those around us, as Christ did, and as the Angels He sends always do.

To show up for others, maybe in the strangest of times and places, maybe even at the darkest end of a long and winding road.

And to light the way with grace and mercy, without judgment, conditions, or requirements. Just an Angel of God meeting and helping someone in their moment of need.

“Oh, I believe there are angels among us,

Sent down to us from somewhere up above.

To guide us with the light of love.”

Angels are among us, including you and me when God sends us.
