Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“‘And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’”
Luke 16:24-26 (ESV)

“When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
John 19:30 (NLT)

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 (NLT)

“…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (ESV)

The eternal chasm of life.

The chasm formed by our own sinful nature, separating us from a holy God.

But then the gift from a loving God of an earthly chance and choice, to cross that chasm, assuring our eternal place in Heaven with our God. Before that chasm becomes forever un-crossable, after taking our last breath on earth.

So enter the “Bridge” across the chasm.

And our earthly chance and choice to accept and use the Bridge to cross the chasm.

Charity Gayle sings these words of hope about that in the song “Thank You Jesus for the Blood”—

“I was a wretch, I remember who I was
I was lost, I was blind, I was running out of time
Sin separated, the breach was far too wide
But from the far side of the chasm, You held me in your sight.

So You made a way across the great divide
Left behind Heaven’s throne to build it here inside
And there at the cross You paid the debt I owed
Broke my chains, freed my soul; for the first time I had hope.

Thank you Jesus for the blood applied…
Thank you Jesus, You have saved my life
Brought me from the darkness into glorious light
The gift from God of His Son—Jesus—nailed to the Cross.”

The gift of Christ.

The gift of the blood of Christ.

Providing the only way for you and me to cross over the chasm of separation between us and God.

Into God’s waiting arms.

For now and all eternity. The chasm can be crossed.

Through our belief in what Christ did for us on the cross and His rising as Lord of life from the now empty tomb.

Bridging the chasm from death to eternal life with God.

The chance and choice is ours…now.
