Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.”
Galatians 6: 9-10 (NLT)

It’s been a long three months so far.

As a matter of fact, these past three months of this coronavirus, isolation, economic slowdown, and uncertainty as to what is next—matches up against some of the longest, most difficult years I have had.

And I’m sure you can connect with what I’m saying.

And now, in the face of recent injustices in our country, we’re trying to talk to each other over the frustration and anger which tends to block our ability to listen, and keeps us from hearing each other.

Discouraged. You bet. We all get there.

Weary. Worn out. Not sure where the energy for the next step will come.

More than I like to admit. We all get that way.

Even my friend, Tony Dungy, ends up there at times, as he related to me in a phone conference yesterday.

He was with his accountability group the morning before, and shared openly and honestly with them how he felt that morning as he woke up.

Discouraged. Tired.

Worn out. Weary.

There was a lot going on. Not just in his life, but as we all can see, in the world around us.

But fortunately for Tony, the Holy Spirit was once again, as always, actively at work, and prompted one of the members of the group to remind him of God’s promise for him, and for us all, in the Scripture verse set out above in the Apostle Paul’s letter recorded in the book of Galatians.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.”

Just what he needed. God knew it.

And after their time together, he tweeted out the story and Scripture which occurred in his group that morning. A report later showed that over two million people had already read and been encouraged by his own personal, open and honest story.

Later that day, he and his bride joined members from fifteen other churches to walk and pray in a recent area of unrest in their community.

Just doing what is good.

Discouraged? We all get there.

Weary? Worn out? We all will be.

God’s remedy—don’t get tired of doing what is good.

Whenever we have the opportunity, keep doing good to everyone. And watch the harvest of blessing which God will bring about.

Discouraged? Weary?

Don’t stay there—keep doing what is good.

In His Name–Scott
