Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake, where they got into a boat and set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them. A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough.
When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were frightened. But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.”
Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.”
John 6: 16-21 (NIV)

The sun has come up this morning.

Recent storms have passed, yet left their marks.

A peace has rolled in as sparkling drops of sunshine dance around the room.

More peace now than when going through those unsettling destructive storms so many had to face the past few weeks.

Then there are those personal daily storms rising up before and within me.

Within many of you, as well. Causing us to feel adrift, unsteady, like being tossed up the side of one wave and down another, wave after wave after wave.

It must have been how those disciples felt in the boat on their storm-tossed lake. They knew Him, and yet they were still confused, unsettled, disoriented, frightened.

And then they heard His words “It is I; don’t be afraid.”

Words I know. Words you know. But words we too often forget in the midst of the storms of the moment.

Then we see that the disciples “…were willing to take Him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore….”

To solid ground.

Any storms in your life at the moment? Careers off track, finances running short, loved ones lost, unexpected illnesses occurring.

We know that there will be times in our lives that we will go through storms.

The issue for us is whether we will we go through them by ourselves, or with the One the disciples took into the boat.

Remembering that when facing any storm, difficulty, disappointment, despairing, or defeated moment in life, we are never alone.

Listen to the encouraging reminders of Rascal Flatts in the song “I Won’t Let Go” as they share—

“It’s like a storm that cuts a path.
It breaks your will, it feels like that.
You think you’re lost, but you’re not lost on your own.
You’re not alone.
I will stand by you, I will help you through,
When you’ve done all you can do.
If you can’t cope, I will dry your eyes.
I will fight your fight.
I will hold you tight, and I won’t let go…”

Is Christ in your boat?

Make sure He is.

Then watch as immediately you find yourself on solid ground, walking with Him, leading you through and toward the end of the storms which we all will face.

Back to wholeness.

Back to the life He created us to live…with Him.

Remembering, that no matter the storms we face—

God won’t let go of us.

In His Name–Scott
