Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“Your life is an occasion—rise to it!”  Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium (Walden Media)

The sun outside my window is rising on yet another Monday.  Is the sun rising where you are?  And what do you have in store for the day?  Or should I ask, what does the day have in store for you?

What messages are you hearing, reading or internalizing as you step out into this new day?  I like the one above from Walden Media’s movie “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium”:

“Your life is an occasion—rise to it!”

Messages like that are positively perfect for us to hear and believe as we begin each and every day on which the sun rises.  And in my experience, and I suspect yours—that would be every day.  Messages like that—well, you just want to replay them over and over in your mind.  You want to embrace them and internalize them—if you can figure out how—over and over again in your life.  Maybe there’s even a part of you wishing you could go back in your own life, and begin again at some point—embracing that message for your life.

“Your life is an occasion—rise to it!”

We can all reflect on occasions or seasons of our lives where we didn’t do that or even feel that it was true.  So maybe we could go back and make some changes—maybe.  But with all we have to look forward to today and tomorrow and beyond, well, except perhaps to learn from some of the things we should have done differently, moving ahead into all we have to look forward to would seem to be the best pathway to take for the rest of our lives.

And along that pathway, we all know from past experiences, that there will be times when things will happen and we won’t feel much like rising to anything, let alone rising to the life we were created to live.  Disappointments and heartaches will temporarily knock us off track.  Bumps in the road of our careers will seem insurmountable to rise above.  Fallings and failures will set us back for a time and we may lose sight of the sunrise.  But the message never changes and never goes away…

“Your life is an occasion—rise to it!”

And so, beginning on this beautiful new morning, why not together commit to begin to embrace that message and others like it for our lives, and begin to share and convey to those messages to others around us—to our spouse, our children, grandchildren and friends who often will take their cues as to their own value and worth from you and from me.

Messages like that one from “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium” are consistent with those which the God who created us has spoken to us throughout history, as we can see in just a few…

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you

apart; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:5

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you

and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever

believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

Messages like those—and so many others—remind us of the lives we were created to live, and point us toward the pathway which God intended for our lives to travel, as well as the lives of those around you, including your children and grandchildren, your spouse, friends and all those whom God has entrusted to your care and influence.  Pathways upon which He will not only walk on alongside of us, but when necessary, at times, will carry us upon.

So why not live those messages? Why not embrace them for every day of our lives?  Why not indeed?

“Your life is an occasion—rise to it!”

Just something for us to think about today and every day for the rest of our lives.
