“There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.”
Revelation 22:5 (NIV)

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
John 16: 33 (NLT)

They always come to mind for each of us.

Loved ones who have passed on.

The loss we feel is real.

But their presence now with God is also real, healing and eternal, helping to comfort us in our loss with that assurance.

Written by Walt Harrah and first released in 1984, the anthem “No More Night” has been sung through the years, reminding us of that assurance of eternal life offered to each of us.

It beautifully paints that glorious moment when we pass from life on earth into an eternal life with the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Risen Lamb, Jesus Christ.

“No more night, no more pain, No more tears, never crying again.
And praises to the great, ‘I am.’ We will live in the light of the risen Lamb.
See all around, now the nations bow down to sing
The only sound is the praises to Christ, our King
Slowly the names from the book are read
I know the King, so there’s no need, no need to dread.
No more night, no more pain, No more tears, never crying again
And praises to the great, ‘I am.’ We will live in the light of the risen Lamb.”

A Light which is offered to each of us today.

A Light to guide and lift us through the trials and sorrows, difficulties and heartaches we will all face in the world.

The Light of the risen Lamb, the risen Christ—always here for us to accept, and to provide us with His peace for each day we are on this earth.

His Light, always here to lift us just high enough to see the sunshine just beyond the rains which will enter our lives.

And to provide a glimpse for us today of that moment, and that Light of the risen Christ, which will be forever ours who have asked and received Christ into our lives—

“No more night, no more pain, No more tears, never crying again.
And praises to the great, ‘I am.’ We will live in the light of the risen Lamb.”

The Light of the risen Lamb—here.

The Light of the risen Lamb—eternally.

Amen and Amen.
