Heaven – Shout the Victory
Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.’
And the one sitting on the throne said, ‘Look, I am making everything new!’ And then he said to me, ‘Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.’ And he also said, ‘It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.’”
Revelation 21: 1-7 (NLT)“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “
John 3: 16 (NKJV)
I saw this text not too long ago— “Don’t worry about dying, you will live forever. All you have to worry about is location.”
Makes you stop dead in your tracks and think about things. Now.
Like this question which came to me from my elder Granddaughter over a decade ago.
For the past fifteen years, we have taken our two Granddaughters every Christmas, which is fast approaching again, to the glorious Christmas Pageant at Idlewild Baptist Church in Tampa.
Waiting for the pageant to begin, Hannah asked, “Gran, what is Heaven like?”
Having yet to have a personal on-site view, I embraced all I could remember about the God who loves us, knows us, is and has always been with us.
And then I offered this—
“Hannah, think about all the people you love, pets you love, things you love, places you love, things you love to do, all the things and people who make you happy, all the people and things that lift you up and make you feel good. Then multiply all of that by at least ten (10)!”
She smiled, knowing from a previous decision and commitment of her life to Jesus Christ, that is where she would be. And at that very moment, the pageant began.
Matt Redman wrote the song “One Day (When We All Get To Heaven)” which paints another glorious picture of Heaven—
“One day You’ll make everything new, Jesus, one day You will bind every wound,
The former things shall all pass away, no more tears.
One day You’ll make sense of it all, Jesus, one day every question resolved,
Every anxious thought left behind, no more fear…
One day we will see face to face, Jesus, Is there a greater vision of grace.
And in a moment, we shall be changed, on that day.
And one day we’ll be free, free indeed, Jesus, one day all this struggle will cease,
And we will see Your glory revealed, on that day…
When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory.
We’ll sing and shout the victory…”
Just a thought for us—There may be absolutely nothing more important in our life right now than making sure that we know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
And also, a thought to consider for a loved one or friend we may know.
I believe it’s true.
Heaven—our eternal shout of victory with Him.
In His Name–Scott
Be overwhelmingly blessed by the California Baptist Academy Choir singing “One Day (When We All Get To Heaven).”
