Never Enough Without You
Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
“’Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.’”
Joshua 24: 14-15 (NIV)“’Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.’”
John 15: 4-5 (NKJV)
The “Greatest Showman.”
A movie with a lingering positive impact on our walk here, in this our temporary home, while perhaps unwittingly pointing us toward all the glorious potential of our eternal walk with the Lord.
Especially within the classic song “Never Enough” written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and sung “behind the curtain” by Loren Allred.
And leaning toward the Apostle John’s truth of who we are through Christ, and Joshua’s view of his God whom he declares he will serve, and how they might have written some of those song verses (noted with some minor changes underlined below), let me share this—
“I’m trying to hold my breath, let it stay this way.
Can’t let this moment end, You set off a dream in me.
Getting louder now, can You hear it echoing?
Take my hand, will You share this with me?
‘Cause [Lord], without You—
All the shine of a thousand spotlights,
All the stars we steal from the night sky,
Will never be enough, never be enough.
Towers of gold are still too little.
These hands could hold the world but it’ll—
Never be enough. Never be enough.
For me…”
Very simply, aligned with the Apostle John, and with Joshua, and a host of other witnesses in God’s Word, throughout history and into today, we can say, embrace and believe that—
Only a life with Christ will ever be enough.
Stated another way, a life without Him is—Never Enough.
And for me, and many of us, looking back on our walk with Christ in this world, we realize that, without Him, our lives would never have been enough.
That all that the world offered, and will offer, is and will—never be enough.
I’d like to share that today is the occasion of the fifty-seventh (57th) wedding anniversary for me, with the most patient of all of God’s children, my bride, Lynda.
Fifty-seven (57) years ago, the Lord, recognizing the need to place someone in my life to help me move toward the truth that without Him my life would never be fulfilled, and never be enough.
And with Lynda by my side, the journey began. It included that moment of accepting Him years ago as my Savior and Lord in a way only God could have orchestrated in the early morning hours one summer, in the hills of Black Mountain, North Carolina, with Lynda’s prayerful encouragement.
God knew what I needed and placed the gift of my bride in my life to help me, to teach me, to love me without qualification, and to show me how to turn to the God without Whom life is never enough.
A bride who time-after-time with her Godly-grace, made it clear to me, that without the gift of God, and of Lynda’s example of walking with Christ, my life would today be less, never all it was created to be, or could be.
Never enough—without Him.
Never enough—without Lynda always pointing me to Him.
Never enough.
Praise God.
Bless you, my precious Bride. Happy Anniversary.

Called to the Manger, Again
We are about to celebrate the most important moment in history when a child, like none other, came into the world for you and for me. Because, no matter what is going on in our lives, the Good News is that we are always and forever called to something more important.
Behold He Comes
Nearly thirty years ago Northern Ireland Christian singer, songwriter and worship leader, Robin Mark, was inspired watching a television program which was reviewing a year which included the Rwandan war tragedies of 1994 and the horrific genocide of over one million lives, while the world just watched. It also was the beginning of the cease-fire in Ireland, and of so many other things going on in the world that Mark wondered where God was. Did He even care?
The Rebel Jesus
Here we are heading into the last month of 2020. Thanks goodness, just thirty days from now and all will be well. Right? If only wishing made it so. I have a sadness that it may not. But what will make it so? Or should I say, who will make it so?
