Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
Psalm 27: 14 (ESV)

“But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.”
Micah 7: 7 (ESV)

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40: 31 (ESV)

I suspect that during this year of 2020 there have been a record number of prayers “shot up” (the term a dear friend of mine uses when he makes a prayer request of me) to our God of creation.

In everything we have faced this year, personally, and together, I know we have lifted millions and millions and millions of prayers aloft.

Personal requests regarding how we will be able to meet needs looming before us, healing relationships in families and among friends on their usual roller coasters rides, finding comfort and hope in heartaches which have hit those we love, and for others we know we have been called to stand by in their grief and struggles.

And then there remains the never-ending coronavirus pandemic concerning us. Now our country trying to reach a generally accepted resolution of our nation’s recent elections. The inexcusable violence in our streets and cities. And a lingering anxiety-causing uncertainty in the days yet ahead, coupled with a head-shaking disbelief that we are about to finish yet another year.

But we still shoot up those prayers.

Waiting for the Lord with hearts of courage, believing the best we can that God will hear us.

Always in our better moments, we keep looking to the Lord.

Because we remember and know that in His time, He will answer.

One of my daily and personal requests of God was answered even yesterday by Him through dear friends God sent as His ambassadors to us.

I had been like Elijah praying for rain, time-after-time, believing as Elijah did that God would answer.

And God answered.

In God’s timing.

Through God’s ways and God’s children.

He always does that for us.

And the reasons—He loves us. He cares for us. He created us. He’s got us.

Facing something you can’t seem to resolve?

Maybe a new mountain is rising up in front of you.

The lingering pain of a recent loss remains heavy.

Need some help with something you continue to struggle with, and you don’t know where to turn?

Let me suggest we embrace the words of the Prophet Isaiah—

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

He’s got you.  He’s got it, whatever it is.

Keep shooting them up, and…

Wait for the Lord.

In His Name—Scott
