Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Isaiah 41: 10 (NLT)

They come every now and then. Sometimes more often than others.

I suppose if you walk in the world enough, they’ll hit you.

Maybe even overcome you at times—leaving you reaching for a light, a word, a moment of distraction, some quiet. Somehow.

The feelings of less than.

The voices saying you haven’t gotten there. You don’t measure up.

And so we look for anything that quiets the voices.

Or we go harder and faster. Or try to numb them. But they’re still there.

Around the next corner. In the next disappointment. In the next day, no matter how beautiful the sunrise.

Voices which Lauren Daigle sings about in her song “You Say” when she says—

“I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low
Remind me once again just who I am because I need to know.”

But then listen to what she hears from the One to whom she is singing, to the God of all creation—

“You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing,
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And you say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don’t belong…You say I am Yours
And I believe, Oh, I believe, What You say of me…I believe.”

The feelings, the voices, will come every now and then. Sometimes more than that.

It’s going to happen as sure as the sun will rise.

Look up and embrace what God says about you.

Claim and believe what He thinks about you.

Remember that you are loved by the God of the universe. It’s there you and I will find our wonder and worth, our identity.

Lauren goes on to share—

“The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me
Taking all I have, and now I’m laying it at Your feet
You have every failure, God, You have every victory.”

And then closes with—

“You say I am loved…I am strong…I am held…I am Yours.
Yes, I believe…What You say of me…I believe.”

They come every now and then.

Those feelings of less than. The voices saying you don’t measure up.

But then remember what God says—

You are loved, you are strong, you are held, and you are His.

That will do it!
