Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Matthew 6: 33 (NIV)

“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90: 12 (NIV)

“And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?”
Matthew 16: 26 (NLT)

“At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, winning one more verdict, or not closing one more deal.
You will regret time not spent with a husband, a child, a friend, or a parent.”
Barbara Bush

Today—Monday, August 18, 2025.

If we look back at all the calendars we can find, or in all journals we have kept, we will not find another one.

If we look ahead, as far into infinity as our time allows, we quickly learn there will not be another one ever to experience.

It is the only one. With moments which will occur only that day. With its sacred memories recorded on the page of the journal of our life—with only that day and date.

Just once—Monday, August 18, 2025.

Never to occur again. Never.

Do not pass by it.

Do not let the God-ordained important moments of the day slip through our fingers because we are preoccupied following the siren call of the world to something less important. Something meaningless, empty.

Or because we are looking at something in the future.

Or are tied to something in the past we can’t get beyond.

All leaving us with regrets for the missed moments of today, and all the fullness of life God created for us to live today.

I heard a true story a number of years ago, with a message clearly from God to guide our lives.

It’s the story of a father who, after many missed moments, found out what was truly most important in life, and thankfully it was not too late.

For you see, he was a very successful businessman who finally found time one day from his busy schedule to take his twelve-year-old son fishing. An achiever and a very efficient one, this man considered leisure to be an extravagance. After a long day spent catching nothing, the pair returned home.

“Waste of time,” the man grumbled to his wife that night as they got ready for bed.

“Didn’t catch a thing all day—waste of time.”

His wife turned to him and quietly handed him a small book that his son had shown her earlier when she was putting him to bed. It was his son’s diary, and in it his son had written—

“Best day of my life. Went fishing with my dad.”

It changed more than the man’s mind. It changed the man.

We need to have that perspective, that focus, seeking that path for our lives.

Today and every day.

So, we do not miss the gift of the only life God created for us to live.

Starting with—Today, Monday, August 18, 2025.
