Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
Crazy About You!

Crazy About You!

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6: 23 (TLB)

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”
John 3: 16-17 (NLT)

“No such thing as a free lunch.”

“You get what you pay for.”

“What have you done for us lately?”

Just a few examples of familiar statements setting out the standards our society uses to determine our worth, value and our success in life or not, and whether something is even important.

Often determined by what we’ve done, how much we’ve accumulated, the price tags we put on things, and striving to meet the expectations of those around us.

And even though the gift by God of His Son Jesus Christ to us was a free gift, worldly values emphasizing that nothing is free makes it hard for many of us at times to see it as a free gift.

Everything has a price. Right?

Everything is earned.

And our worth is determined by what we do and what we give back. Right?

So, what do we need to pay for that gift from God of His Son?

Hang on. Ready? The answer—Nothing!

The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Done! Free! For you and for me.

All we have to do is accept it.

So how do we get beyond feeling we aren’t worthy. That we have to pay something. Do something.

Simple. Realize that there is nothing we can offer in return that even begins to approach the value of the free gift of the Baby in a manger, Who died on the cross, and was raised to life for you and for me.

God. What price tag do you put on that?

But we don’t have to—we are worthy, not because of what we do, but because God says we are to Him. God loves us—and that’s enough. That’s all.

Tauren Wells says it perfectly in his song “Crazy About You,” when he shares—

“He’s crazy about you, didn’t wanna live without you,
He traded the stars for a chance at your heart,
Just to show you it’s true.
He’s crazy about you, died so you didn’t have to,
Tore your failure apart, now He wears your scars,
That’s how much He loves you.
He’s never been mad at you, He’s only been madly in love,
And it’s never been about what you do,
It’s always been about what He’s done,
It’s something you just can’t hear enough.
Oh, He’s crazy about you, didn’t wanna live without you,
He traded the stars for chance at your heart,
Just to show you it’s true.”

Free gift? Yes.

Worthy? Yes, because He says so.

Crazy in love with you.

Let it Be!

Isaiah prophesized the birth years earlier when he announced: “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel”
But I’m sorry, it is simply not the way any of us would have introduced the Savior into the world.

We’re so Close – Don’t Miss It!

We’re so Close – Don’t Miss It!

We’re so close. You could almost throw a rock toward it and hit the stable where He was to be born. That’s how close we are to Christmas. That’s how close we are to that day, that celebration, that eternal moment once again, of the birth of the One that life is all about.
But will we hit it?

Leaning In – Eternal Assurance

She was kneeling and had just turned to wrap her three-year-old arms around an eighteen-inch-high and now forty-nine-year-old plastic lighted Santa we have put out each year since our son was born.
“I love you Santa,” she whispered as she nestled him into her cheek.
