Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
Jesus Is

Jesus Is

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future.
The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.”
I Peter 1: 3-5 (The Message)

Here we are, a few weeks out from remembering again the events of those life-changing days of over two thousand years ago.

Good Friday, when all seemed lost.

Easter Sunday, when all hope was restored.

Sandwiched around a Saturday where so many of His followers were wandering around carrying bags full of doubt, disbelief, despair, desperation, and defeat.

Times unlike anything they could remember.

Christ, alone.

Dragging the cross to Calvary.

Then being nailed to it, and hoisted up to hang until he died a painful death.

Lying lifeless in the tomb.

But just for a moment.

Then He rose from that tomb—for you and me, to ask Him to enter our lives assuring our eternal life with Him.

Submitting and surrendering our lives to His truth, to the life He created us to live, and then following His way for all our days, from now and into eternity.

Our strength when we are weak, our hope when we have none, our peace and shelter in the storms which will always hit.

The One who hears us when we call out, carries our burdens when we can’t, and is the ever-present Light in our darkness.

When we feel all alone, we’re not.

That’s a lie we need to set aside.

Jesus is. Always will be.

We remember Holy Week, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday again in a few weeks—to remind us that in the midst of whatever is seeking to drain us, drag us down, and leave us feeling defeated—Jesus is there.

Jesus is.

He is the Truth, the Life, the Way.

The Prince of Peace, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Mighty God, Son of Man, Holy One, the Great I Am—Jesus is.

For you. For me.

For always. Forever.

Keep Fighting the Good Fight

I had the humbling and difficult privilege this past weekend to share the eulogy and other moments at the Memorial Service of the elder son of long-time dear family friends.
Parents aren’t supposed to bury their children. But something about their son, Eric, and his journey might help you and me with our own journey

Being With Him

Being With Him

The other day, I finally figured out that my inability to focus on my reading, research and writing was because I was focused on all the stuff going on around me, personally, and throughout the nation and world. Well partly.

When the Mountains Shake

When the Mountains Shake

“Although the world is full of suffering, it is full of the overcoming of it.” Not a bad mission statement for today. We have been here before, just by a different name, and we have overcome what we have faced before.
