Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…
In the “Sometimes” – Look to God

In the “Sometimes” – Look to God

Just some early morning thoughts from me to you…

“Praise the Lord! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.”
Psalm 106: 1 (NLT)

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
Psalm 34: 8 (NKJV)

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8: 28 (NIV)

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Psalm 23: 6 (NKJV)

Sometimes it was nothing but crud.

Sometimes it hurt. Everything hurt.

Sometimes there was an emptiness. A loneliness.

Sometimes things were never the same.

Sometimes there was no one there to count on.

Sometimes there was nothing you could depend upon to ever be the same.

Sometimes there was nothing you were proud to share with, or show to, others.

Sometimes is still occurring today.

And the hardest part of all the “sometimes” was (and is) that —the “sometimes” were usually all the time.

Maybe you’ve been there or know someone who has been. Or you, or they, are there now.

Never sure where to look for any light in their life, or light occasionally, maybe just on any given day, every now and then.

Never any “count-on” folks or things around—which you could depend upon at all times and in all moments. Maybe anyone or anything there for just a little stability. Maybe creating and preserving some traditions in life worth looking forward to.

Maybe you’ve been there, looking for a splash of hope in your life, for today and tomorrow.

Maybe the problem lies in where, and to whom you are looking.

Even those who mean well, and would like to think they can be counted upon, will too often put themselves first, to our detriment and disappointment.

The world, and people—even us—are flawed even in the best of moments and will often let us down at the very moment we need to be lifted up. Sad, but true.

Leaving us all alone and not sure of what is next.

Consider changing to whom and where you are looking.

Suggestion—look to our God Who is perfect and good in all things and at all times. Look to our God, Who sent His Son to die on the cross for you and for me.

Our God Who loves you and me.

Look to the God Who is always there and will never leave you. Our God, Who created the heavens and the earth, and you and me.

God is good, loves us before we even loved Him, and is the ultimate One we can “count on.” Always and forever. For your good and mine.

Listen to some of the words shared by Kristian Stanfill in the song “God, You’re So Good”—

“Amazing love that welcomes me.
The kindness of mercy that bought with blood,
Wholeheartedly, my soul undeserving.
God, You’re so good, Oh God, You’re so good.
God, You’re so good, You’re so good to me…
I am blessed, I am called,
I am healed, I am whole,
I am saved in Jesus’ name…
God, You’re so good, God, You’re so good.
God, You’re so good, You’re so good to me.”

Going through some “sometimes.” No one to turn to and count on?

Turn to our God. He loves you. He loves me.

He is good, and always there.

Count on it!

I’ll bet you wouldn’t have thought of doing it that way. I know that I wouldn’t have. It was a time when a curtain of darkness enveloped the world.
But a Messiah was promised.

Planted in Christ

Planted in Christ

In case someone asks you someday, or wonders aloud to others, think about this—where would you say that your life is planted? If you had to put a stake in the ground for a belief and position in your life that is non-negotiable—for what would it be and stand?
It will determine where your life is planted.

The Man in the Middle

The Man in the Middle

When we fall for the world’s standards of what is important, and allow that to define us and set what is expected of us, we’re on an unsustainable path ultimately marked by difficulty, disappointment, despair and defeat.
It’s about us. And alone we can’t. Certainly not for long or for always.
With Him, we can. His way.
